WHAT THIS EXPANSION MEANS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
This manure will be applied to fields near our homes, creating serious risks:
Water Contamination
Severe contamination of private wells with nitrates and bacteria
Massive manure runoff into local streams, harming fish, wildlife, and ecosystems
Direct threat to hundreds of private wells from manure application near homes
Air Quality & Health Impacts
Dangerous air pollution from ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and methane
Respiratory illnesses, headaches, and nausea for residents
Unbearable odors making outdoor living impossible
Community Impact
Dramatically increased truck traffic worsening road safety, noise, and road damage
Reduced property values throughout the area
Potential for the largest factory farm near Milwaukee in a region far too populated for this type of facility
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

Date: August 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM

WHAT'S COMING NEXT: TOWN REZONING THREAT
After the state permit process, Roden Farm will request a rezoning from EA to AE zoning in the Town of Trenton, which would allow unlimited animal units. This zoning change would:
Create the largest factory farm near Milwaukee
Permanently transform our rural town into an industrial farming zone
Degrade our environment and quality of life forever
Allow unlimited expansion with no cap on animal units
This rezoning request is expected within the next couple of months. Residents must prepare now to attend Town meetings and write letters opposing this zoning change.

HOW THIS REZONE COULD AFFECT OUR CEDARBURG BOG
At 2,200 acres, the Cedarburg Bog is one of the largest and most diverse wetlands in southern Wisconsin. In recognition of its outstanding natural qualities, it was designated a State Natural Area in 1952, and was the second property in the state added to this program. The Cedarburg Bog supports an array of unusual plants and animals. Cedar-Tamarack and hardwood swamps, deep and shallow marshes, several bog lakes and a patterned peatland or "string bog" make this area unique.
Jim Reinhardt wrote in an email " Some of the areas that the Roden farm currently uses to spread their manure are in the surface water and groundwater drainage basins of the Cedarburg Bog. With year after year of spreading manure on these lands, eventually the excess nutrients form that activity make their way into the Cedarburg Bog and degrade the water quality of the wetland."
"In addition to the Cedarburg Bog, the Sapa Spruce Bog State Natural Area is located right within the area where the Rodens have been spreading manure east of CTH Y. The Sapa Spruce Bog is a small State Natural Area that is the southernmost acidic black spruce bog in the State of Wisconsin and unique for its high quality and location."
jim
The location of the Re-zone is with in feet of the Cedarburg Bog. The concern of the Friends of Trenton is that the manure run off and any large amounts of rainfall after fields are sprayed could run into the Cedarburg Bog and destroy it forever! IS IT WORTH DESTROYING THIS WETLAND FOREVER?
